Referrals for further treatment
Your GP will discuss with you if you are being referred for further treatment and subsequently you will receive a confirmation letter from the Surgery once a referral has been made on your behalf.
Our doctors use a system called “e-Referral” when they refer you to hospital/community clinics for further treatment. Our electronic referrals are managed by Newark and Sherwood Gateway, (a service that has been set up by the NHS Commissioning Group).
A Patient Care Advisor from the Gateway will contact you within 10 working days of receiving your referral to offer you an appointment. If you have not heard within that time, please contact them - Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm / Wednesdays until 7pm, on 01636 894933.
You always have the option to change/cancel your appointment once you receive it, should you wish to do so. Your password and the telephone number to do this are contained within your appointment letter. Should you lose your password details, they can be obtained from the Medical Secretaries at the Surgery.
You can also request a copy of any letter sent by your GP on your behalf – please ask your GP at the time of your initial appointment.
